Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society launches week-long ‘Food Distribution’ Program

Salahuddin Ahmed, from New York: The Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society (JBFS), one of the leading social organizations in New York, has started a week-long ‘Food Distribution’ program. There has been a huge response among the expatriates in this program. In addition, the organization is providing essential markets and ready-made food as ‘Ramadan gifts’ to the families who are not receiving government assistance or who have been affected by Kavid-19. Friends Society President Mohammad Fakhrul Islam Delwar and General Secretary Syed Al-Amin Russell said Iftar would be served for five days. Then, with the holy Eid-ul-Fitr in mind, the necessary groceries will be given as gifts. JBFS has sought the full cooperation of the expatriate Bangladeshis in this regard. The concerned families have been requested to contact the officials of Friends Society.
The ‘Food Distribution’ program began with the distribution of Iftar boxes in front of Fatema Grocery on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica on Tuesday, May 5th. Advisers and other officials of the organization were present at the time.
Also, an Iftar box was distributed in front of the Jamaica Muslim Center on Sunday, May 10 at 5 pm. The ‘Food Distribution’ program will continue till Tuesday, May 12. The program will benefit 300 families, officials told the UN news agency.
