UAE announces amnesty for illegal immigrants

Major General Mohammed Al Marri, an official with Dubai’s Director General of Residential Affairs, held a press conference on the general amnesty for illegal immigrants. At the conference, he said, those who are staying illegally; For them, this general amnesty is a gift from the UAE government.

On Monday, the country’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emirati Affairs announced the lifting of a one-and-a-half-year ban on work permits for illegal immigrants in the country.

The ministry said the ban would be lifted on those who applied for a general amnesty within the stipulated time. It will help them get new jobs and new work permits.
